Why are our finer knits often proportionately more expensive than chunky ones? We get asked this a lot. At first, it sounds a little illogical.
For the Nuba Sweater, the yarn is so fine that a single sweater weighing just 250 grams contains around 7.5 kilometres of yarn. 7,500 metres!
It is knitted on an increasingly rare 18-gauge knitting machine with more than 7 needles per centimetre. With yarn this delicate, it takes a great deal of time, precision and experience to keep the thread from breaking or tangling — and the knitter from having to start all over again, threading every single needle.
On top of that, the wool is RWS-certified, standing for responsible animal welfare and the mindful management of sustainably farmed grazing land.
